Sacha Lichine was born in Margaux, France in 1960.
Despite spending his early years in the Medoc, Sacha was soon on
the move with his family to New-York, attending the Lycée
Français there and, eventually, Boston University. His Father's
connections with America had begun many years earlier ; Alexis Lichine
excelled in this role of wine ambassador and it is perhaps this,
more than any other of his qualities, that he passed down to his
son. Sacha was quickly into the world of wine.
- At the age of 18 he founded his own wine tours company, organising
luxury wine tours of France for Americans.
- In his early to mid twenties, he variously worked as a wine
steward at Antony's Pier 4 in Boston, a buyer for a Boston wine
company and a wine advisor for Southern Wine and Spirits of California.
- In 1987 he set up his own export company in Saint Lucia, CARIBBEAN
CHATEAU LTD and in the same year became director of Chateau
Prieuré-Lichine in Margaux.
- In 1990, he created his own Bordeaux negociant business, BORVIN,
wich is still in operation. Through Borvin, he offers the cream
of Bordeaux wine selection, participating in the annual "En
Primeur" campaign, as well as producing and a range of single-estate
wines from southern France.
- In 2000, Sacha founded the next stage of his business group,
SACHA LICHINE INTERNATIONAL LTD, a production
and marketing company based in France which masterminds the development
of a new concept in wine ; the VINS
SANS FRONTIERES, where the Old World meets the New
in an exciting array of blended wines made both in France and
the southern hemisphere, designed to appeal to the modern wine
consumer in all markets.
Sacha has travelled throughout the world to take
his message of uncomplicated wine enjoyement to many old, new and
burgeoning wine markets, and will continue to do so with dedication
in the coming years. |
